To date, no two, same HIV genomes have been reported. While the difference between the human and the chimpanzee's genome is no more than 2% the difference in the "HIV genomes" may exceed 40%. In fact, the vast majority, more than 99% of the HIV genomes, are defective, that is, they lack part of whole of one or more genes. |
